Elegant Grecian Inspired Wedding

Grecian Wedding

The ceremony for this Greek Wedding started at the Greek Orthodox Church in West End, Brisbane.  An amazingly decorated and hand painted church, where the bride had decorated every pew with fresh white orchids and floor-length hanging organza ribbons.

Family tradition was something Chris wanted to include on the day and as history has it, the bride-to-be would send her groom a tray of baklava she had baked as a pre-wedding gift.  Family and friends gathered at Chris’ parents house to dance and celebrate the upcoming wedding.  There was traditional, live Greek music played on Bazuki’s (a traditional Greek style hand crafted guitar). The vibe in the house was one of excitement and of family unity. There was of course the normal pre-wedding jitters… but nothing a shot of  Ouzo couldn’t fix !

Groomsmen

The bridesmaids and flower girl all prepared for the wedding in the bridal suite of The Sebel Suites Brisbane. Michelle’s dress designer was there to make sure the dress looked perfect before she stepped out for photos by Focus Films . Michelle’s family also gathered around her with love as she prepared for a magical day. The reception was also at The Sebel Suites where the guests enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and canapes awaiting the arrival of the newlyweds.

The theme was one of classic elegance with a beautiful combination of tiffany blue and white. The pink hues and the green berries from the flowers created a gorgeous contrast to the colour of the bridesmaid gowns.

Bride

They arrived in style in a classic old Rolls Royce from Prestige Vehicle Hire of Brisbane.   The bridal party was not far behind in a stretch, ‘old school’ Rolls! As soon as you walked in the room you got a feeling of wow! It was so beautiful… the fresh orchids from Carina Florist where beautiful and where the centrepiece of every table.  The bridal table backdrop was custom made by Marabous with fresh orchid hanging balls separated by hanging Swarovski Crystals on top of a wall of organza and fairy lights. The front edge of the table was lined with mirrored glass to reflect the warm glow from the crystal candle holders on top.

A grecian themed 5 tier cake by Cakestar also took the spotlight!  Beautifully created by Jade of Cakestar, this cake not only looked amazing but it was so delicious too! The lower three layers of the cake where a decadent chocolate mudcake with the top two layers being a rich, traditional fruit cake.,

Homemade Greek and Italian sweets baked by the family of the bride and groom where a delicious ending to a mediterranian menu.  The guests enjoyed dancing the traditional circle dancing, becoming more crazy as the night went on and the alcohol continued to flow! Michelle and Chris couldn’t have hoped for a more special day and looking back they say they wouldn’t change a thing.
